Bahaar is an Urdu word that while commonly used as a word for ‘spring’, also means a profusion of happiness, an outpouring of joy. Libas brings you a joyous collection of whites, a color that has been prized for centuries as the color of peace, serenity, and tranquility. In short, the kind of joy and grace that real happiness brings!
Embellished with embroidery and lace, and adorned with the glitter and shimmer of mirror work, ‘Bahaar’ offers a specially curated selection of gorgeous ensembles that will make you feel like the beautiful woman you are, within and without!
The Mughals doted on white and celebrated it with ‘white’ evenings under the full moon, where the food served was all white, and each guest wore only white.
White is also the color of some of India’s loveliest and most fragrant flowers: the Rajnigandha, the Raat Rani, the Parijat, the Akash Nim and the Bakul.
The one Indian festival that has celebrated white down the ages is Sharad Poornima, the night festival of the full moon in the autumn month of Ashvin. Friends and family get together; everyone wears white and ‘rabri’ (a thickened milk dessert, delicately spiced with cardamom, rose water and almonds) is made and kept in the moonlight to ‘absorb’ moon rays for a few hours, after which it is consumed. During this time, songs are sung, poetry is shared and the moon is feted in all her glory.
Here are some enchanting outfits from the Bahaar collection from Libas, enjoy the pure serenity and mystical allure of an aura called white.
